CCAE programs are designed to make a well-rounded education available to every child by providing any Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade teacher, regardless of subject taught, with the training and resources needed to incorporate the Arts into their teaching.
CCAE programs and resources are research-based and classroom-tested to ensure that every child has access to an education that includes the Arts.
CCAE programs are developed around these guiding principles:
Standards-Based Instruction
All CCAE programs are correlated to the five strands of the California Content Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts.
Arts Integrated Curriculum
The CCAE approach advocates for authentic, meaningful connections between the arts and other content areas.
Inquiry-Driven Process
The CCAE approach goes beyond the standards to engage all learners in a process that encourages observation, discussion, informed judgment as well as written response and reflection. All programs engage participants to learn-by-doing.
Authentic Experiences with the Arts
CCAE advocates learning and teaching directly from works of art to ensure authentic learning experiences. CCAE focuses on strategies that transfer across learning environments.
Classroom Ready Resources and Support
Support is provided through the CCAE programs and beyond – through the CCAE Art Resource Center, CCAE Journal, CCAE Website, CCAE produced Prints, Transparencies and Lesson Plan Packets, and personal one-on-one mentoring.
