SRA / McGraw-Hill:
SRA Art Connections, California Edition, 2007: This K – 6 Art Connections curriculum was adopted by the California Board of Education. The Art Resource Center has resources for grades K – 6.
SRA Theatre Arts, California Edition: This first theatre arts curriculum for grades K – 6 was adopted in 2007 by the State of California. There are texts for all grades K – 6.
Courage: SRA Art Prints for Theme Enrichment: A set of two large reproductions, five 12 x 15” prints, two transparencies and a teacher’s booklet supports the “Open Court” theme of courage.

Spotlight on Music, CA Edition: a sequential elementary music curriculum adopted in 2007 by the State of California. The Art Resource Center has a complete set of resources for Grades two and four.

Making Music, CA Edition: this K – 8 sequential music curriculum by Silver-Burdett was adopted by the State of California also. The Art Resource Center has a complete set of resources for Grades one and four and partial resources for all other grades. Partial resources will support at least nine classroom grade-level music lessons.

Flickering Lights: Days of the Dead – a 23-minute video and teacher’s guide for grades four through twelve. This video takes the viewer to Oaxaca, Mexico where families prepare for this very special holiday, Days of the Dead.
Oaxacan Woodcarving: Innovation Meets Tradition – a 15-minute video and teacher’s guide for grades four through twelve. This video introduces Oaxacan woodcarver Zeny Fuentes who demonstrates the steps to create an armadillo carving from conception to completion.

Ruth Duckworth: A Life in Clay: 30 minute-DVD focuses on 83-year-old working ceramist Ruth Duckworth. A survivor of Hitler’s Germany, Duckworth became a pioneering ceramic artist.
Conceptual Art: This paperback book deals with conceptual art, a style / artistic movement originating in the 1960s and featuring artworks in which the actual execution of the artwork is of subordinate importance. The emphasis is on the underlying idea. It includes Sacramento artist Stephen Kaltenbach.
Surrealism: This paperback focuses on Surrealism, a style in art and modern literature that flourished between World Wars I and II. Art of Illusion: A Set of 12 (16 x 12”) prints focuses on the art of illusion. It contains one print by Salvador Dali and one by M.C. Escher. The remaining ten posters show and explain illusions created by the eyes and brain.
National Gallery of Art:
Henri Rousseau: Jungles in Paris: This 37-minute video features archival film and photographs as well as footage shot on site in the Parisian parks, zoos, and greenhouses that fueled Rousseau’s imagination.
The Greek Miracle: This teaching packet celebrates the achievements of classical Greece from the fifth-century, particularly that of sculpture.
The Eye of Thomas Jefferson: The 29-minute video surveys the artistic interests and creative accomplishments of Thomas Jefferson in architecture and landscaping.
20th-Century European Art: This DVD contains five separate documentary programs on the following artists: Henri Rousseau, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Henry Moore.
Toys: The color slide program centers on toys from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and contains 27 slides, an audiocassette, and a booklet.
Picturing France 1830 – 1900: This teaching packet introduces nineteenth century art styles and the important French artists whose work exhibits these styles. Artists include Cassatt, Monet, Renoir, Seurat, Gauguin, Cezanne, and van Gogh among others.

Art History: Making Connections Across Time and Cultures: An art history lesson from CCAE’s 2007 Summer Art Institute #2 centered on images of horses across time and cultures. In order to teach the lesson, an image of a Butterfield horse sculpture also needs to be borrowed from the Art Resource Center. Packet contains study prints of a Degas sculpture, a Chinese bronze, and a Greek bronze, each with accompanying contextual information.
Miscellaneous:
Miro – Famous Artists: A book for grades five through eight on the Spanish modern artist Joan Miro. Hands-on projects allow students to try some of the artist’s materials and techniques.
Jian Wang: Full Circle: Jian Wang, a well-known Sacramento artist from China, was a focus artist at the 2007 CCAE Summer Art Institute #1. The Art Resource Center has two copies of this DVD.
Dictionary of Subjects and Symbols in Art: This book explains mythological, historical and religious themes, frequently visualized in Renaissance artworks, as well as allegorical, poetic, and saintly characters.
Painters of the Caves: This Scholastic publication gives a comprehensive account of European prehistoric caves, written in conjunction with the National Geographic Society.
The Orphan Boy: This children’s book recounts an African legend of why the planet Venus is known to the Maasai as Kileken, the orphan boy.
A Weekend with Winslow Homer: A children’s paperback book about the life and art of Winslow Homer, as hypothetically narrated by the artist.
Diego Rivera, An Artist’s Life: A children’s paperback book about the life and art of Diego Rivera. Appropriate for kindergarten through grade four.
Henri Matisse, Jazz: This book reproduces the original Jazz for which Matisse wrote the text and created the illustrations from cut-paper. Most of the collages relate to some theme from the circus or the theater.
Jacob Lawrence, Harriet and the Promised Land: A children’s book written in rhythmic verse and illustrated by the artist Jacob Lawrence. Appropriate for grades three through six.
Van Gogh: A children’s book on the life and art of Vincent van Gogh, written by Mike Venezia. Appropriate for elementary students.
