2008 Curriculum Development Workshop: July 22 - 24

Co-sponsored with the University Library Gallery
California State University, Sacramento

Building on the Summer Art Institute Experience: The CCAE Curriculum Development Workshop (20 hours instruction) is the next step for teachers who have attended the CCAE Summer Art Institutes. This lively, comprehensive 3-day workshop provides participants with hands-on learning experiences as well as the tools, strategies and resources for developing or adapting a standards-based unit.

Facilitators work with participants in a step-by-step progression, modeling the curriculum development process from establishing an effective “Big Idea” to successfully aligning insightful “Essential Questions,” Lessons and Assessment strategies. Participants have access to CCAE’s extensive Art Resource Center of over 2,000 items to support their planning process, as well as support from the CCAE Co-Directors and Facilitators.

The CCAE mentoring and support continues beyond the Workshop. During the school year, CCAE also hosts a collaborative peer review session with returning participants: a chance to share progress and challenges with the unit developed during the summer workshop. Also a chance to share and discuss student artwork and writing samples as evidence of student learning.

We let past Curriculum Development Workshop participants tell you why you should attend this program:

This is ‘Lesson Plan Boot Camp’ in the nicest possible way! You walk away with a unit and all the resources needed.

The resources and guidance from the directors at CCAE have been extremely valuable. The most beneficial reason for attending the Curriculum Workshop is having time to research and develop a comprehensive Unit.

The time invested is time well spent in both long- term planning and changing the way I think about the lessons that I teach.

Fees for the CCAE Curriculum Development Program (3-Day Program)

$200 per person or
$175 per person if attending as a team of three or more teachers from the same school
$400 per person if attending both the Summer Art Institute #1 and Curriculum Development Workshop
$350 per person if attending both the Summer Art Institute #2 and Curriculum Development Workshop
