The annual CCAE Summer
Art Institute for teachers takes place at the
Crocker Art Museum. Considered one of the best arts
education programs available in this region, this intensive
one-week program provides teachers of all backgrounds
with hands-on experiences with art, as well as the resources,
strategies and support for transferring their learning
directly to the classroom. Teachers learn-by-doing in
a dynamic, energetic atmosphere – looking at art,
talking about art, and making art. All lessons are aligned
with the Visual & Performing Arts Standards and
Language Arts Standards.
New! The Curriculum Development Workshop
provides teachers with skills and hands-on experience
to develop their own standards-based visual arts units.
Participants are encouraged to attend as a school-based,
or grade-level team to emphasize collaborative planning.
Participants also have access to the extensive holdings
of the CCAE Art Resource Center throughout the workshop
and they have access to CCAE for continuing phone support
in implementing their units throughout the school year.
The CCAE Art Resource Center
contains the most extensive collection of published
curriculum and art resource material available in this
region. Materials are available to subscribers on loan;
some unique materials are for on-site reference use
only. Subscribers have access to ongoing consultation
services. The Center is open Monday through Thursday
by appointment, and for extended hours on the Third
Thursday of the month during the academic year.
The Print Portfolio
is an invaluable resource of high quality art prints
(18x24”) correlated with classroom-ready lesson
plan packets. The portfolio of prints, published with
support from CCAE sponsors, has been developed in partnership
with area museums and artists.
The CCAE Journal,
published twice per year, features current arts education
issues and updates on teaching practice from the field,
along with curricula reviews, web site listings, and
art-based preview lesson plan, etc.
Consultancies are
workshops or professional development services developed
by CCAE to address site-specific needs for school districts,
schools and/or museums.
